Anti-carbonation coatings, sacrificial galvanic anodes, and corrosion-inhibitor impregnation for reinforced concrete in coastal and aggressive environments.

Reinforced concrete in coastal Nigeria fails by chloride-induced corrosion of the rebar. Salt enters through the cover concrete, depassivates the steel, and the corrosion product expands - bursting the cover off the structure. Anti-corrosion work is about getting ahead of that process, or arresting it before it spreads.
